As in previous years, the festival invites you to rediscover the film that won the Barrière Jury Special Prize. Last year it was the film “UNICORNS”, by Sally El Hosaini and James Krishna Floyd, which caused a sensation and also won the Audience Award. A great opportunity to (re)watch this film before the 36th edition of the festival.
UNICORNS
When Luke (Ben Hardy) stumbles across an underground nightclub he meets Aysha (Jason Patel), a beautiful, seductive woman. Their first kiss yields fireworks — which are immediately followed by Luke’s sobering realization that Aysha is not the cisgender woman he thought, but a remarkably femme drag queen. Spending more time together and navigating the challenges in their respective domestic lives, they face the question of whether or not there is a love that can exist beyond traditional labels.
