STOP MOTION

by Héloïse Ferlay

The technique of stopmotion, or volume animation, consists of briging movement to real, yet inanimated objects. Although simple in principle, this method of film-making continues to fascinate audiences, as objects that come to life always seem a little magical.

Héloïse Ferlay, a director from Rennes, invites you yo discover the secrets behind this unique pictorial technique, which defies the law of gravity but is incredibly difficult to execute. This event will combine lectures, screenings, demonstrations and discussions, as well as offering the most curious members of the audience the chance to try it for themsleves.

Héloïse Ferlay studied animated film at ENSAD, where she made her multi-award-winning film A la mer poussière. She is also the creator of Les filles du vent. She works in Rennes at Vivement Lundi! as a set designer on films such as Sauvages by Claude Barras.
